I gave your links a second look. Now I start understanding the possibilities better. The first link seems to be the easiest one.
I work as follows: Windows is on a 120 GB SSD (C:-drive). All the rest is on D:. For the backups I use the F:-drive. My pc has the SSD and the two others are external drives.
BTW, I have an optical drive in my PC, but it is making troubles the last time. That is why I asked for an alternative on USB.
