When a partition on a disk is marked as active that means that the computer after the BIOS has handed control to the hard- drive that the partition marked as active is the one that the system looks to for the boot files to load windows

The marking of the partition as active on ONE computer has ABSOLUTELY BO BEARING or relevance WHATSOEVER to that drive being inserted as the system drive in another computer

WHY did you not simply copy the data that you originally wanted from the laptop to a flash drive and then to the Windows 7 computer and then when you wanted to copy it back again - the same procedure in reverse.

ALTHOUGH if you copied it - as against MOVED it was it NOT still there on the laptop

With the drive in the windows 7 computer can you boot to F8 after the post screen and do you have the option repair your computer

Also do you have the windows 7 installation DVD
