Hmmm..
Sounds like a driver problem OR a configuration issue with your hardware. Could have also been caused by you accidentally pressing a combo of keys that output your screen to your VGA port/external monitor.
If that wasn't the case, I would start by troubleshooting display driver issues first.
Try this...
Go into Safe Mode, and go to the Control panel
Next, go to System and Security
Click on System
Then, click on Device Manager
Look for Display Adapter, and right click it
Choose Properties
Next, choose uninstall (remove)
Restart your PC
