Hey All,
This is an excellent tip for Windows 7 users. Other versions of Windows may have similar ways to disable the fade and animation menus, but these steps will be for Windows 7. Note that by default, Windows turns on a lot of menu fade in and out controls when programs and menus are opened and closed. They may look cool, but they also consume tons of memory, can be unnecessarily trying on the CPU, and consume computer resources that can be better used for your system elsewhere:
To Disable These Animations and Fades:
1.) Click the Windows Start Button Icon.
2.) type the word "fade" (no quotes) in the search box
3.) select change the appearance of Windows from the list of choices. Click on that list.
4.) A dialogue box opens. These are your appearances and theme choices for how programs, menus, and other selections that are set by default in Windows 7.
5.) Click on the Customize Radio Button.
6.) Uncheck All items that say they word "Fade", "Animation", or any form of the word animate in them.
7.) Click Apply
8.) Click OK
9) Now close out of everything and try to open up your programs, such as your browser, Office Programs, Folders, right-clicking. Everything will open up about twice as fast because animation and fade options are all turned off!
