Advanced Boot Option and System Image REcovery

Hello, rstrui.exe is the Microsoft System Restore, since you stated that all the restore points are gone (which in itself is a cause for concern), then you could not use it. The only way to restore your friends computer would be to boot into the Windows Recovery Environment, if one exists on that computer, and it is usually accessed via the Advanced Boot or Diagnostic Options; if the WRE is not available, you would need to use the manufacturer's recovery media. If your friend does not have it, you would need to contact the manufacturer to have it shipped (usually a nominal fee). Be advised that newer computers using EUFI do not have the old F8 option available; the diagnostic screen must be accessed using a hot key to access the EUFI menu options.
