Sony Vaio Windows 7 does not boot

The Vaio care does detect the hard disk and starts the rescue process displaying 845 hours (for 300GB data) to back up the disk and after running for few minutes abort displaying the mshta.exe error.

I am not sure how to run diagnostics via BIOS. I went to BIOS screen and reset to default as was suggested by someone vi Google search but that didnt help either.
