windows 7, computer will not start up

Hello all,

Working on a Lenovo desktop with Win7. Had a power outage recently. Computer went off during outage. Tried to restart comp, screen comes up"windows did not shut down properly". The only option that Somewhat works is the "start window normally". I can see the window logo start initially, then monitor goes blank, but I can see the cursor. Tower seems to be working due to flashing light near power button. Let me know what other info might be needed.
