I'm trying to install a 64bit version of Windows 7 Professional onto a brand new Dell Inspiron 15 that originally had Windows 8.1 on it.
The dell website shows that 64 bit drivers for Windows 7 are available so it has to be possible to install the OS. However when booting from the disc (or even USB) I get a BSOD saying:
"The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor for an updated BIOS"
I actually let Windows 8 boot completely up, and then downloaded and installed the latest BIOS update for the machine, but it didnt make any difference.
I've tried turning off secure boot, switching the boot type from UEFI to Legacy boot, even tried changing the SATA mode to ATA from AHCI.
If anyone could offer any suggestions they'd be welcomed at this point (unless your going to tell me to return the laptop)
