1. The check cable connection is indicative of the fact that the computer is looking to boot from the Ethernet
2. The insert a boot disc means that it cannot find a bootable device
3. The hard drive is not listed in the boot options (OR there is a file problem on the drive, or a hardware problem )- this is unlikely but on the POST screen the black screen with the information should be
To enter setup press - and then a key eg. Del or F2 (maybe)
Boot options press and again a key - maybe F12
4. Try the boot options and see if the hard drive is listed - select that
5. The other alternative is as my colleague has mentioned try F8 immediately the post screen appears and try Safe Mode, if that is no good try Last Known good configuration
6. If that does not work - I think the E725 is a laptop is it not - disconnect power, remove main battery - eg disconnect it
HOLD DOWN power button for a full 20 seconds - reconnect mains power only and try again.
7. If that fails and the hard drive is on that emachines - accessible from either a carrier in a slide on the side or on the base, check the cable connection to the hard drive
8. If that fails you are back to booting from a repair disc and seeing where we go from there OR if the laptop has recovery options from a partition on the hard drive - that may be possible but you are likely to lose all your data and it will be back as sold AND that of course depends on the ability to access those recovery options
If all I have suggested fails - we are best proceeding as explained by my colleague with a repair disc - before you consider recovery from the partition even if that is possible
