System Restore

I have a PC that won't boot. I've been thru every method I can come up with plus some from various websites to try and get it restarted with no good results.

Just a few of pieces of info first:

Win 7 64 bit

I can't get to safe mode but can get to the command prompt
I have put the drive in another PC and checked it and found no issues whatsoever.

ChkDsk showed no problems and no repairs done but it did show the following message as the last line:
"Failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 50"

(for.some.reason.when.I.hit.Space.in.parts.of.the.message.at.this.point.it. starts.a.new.line.so.please.excuse.the.dots)

When.I.try.any.of.my.many.Restore.Points.in.System.Restore.it.goes.to.the." Confirm.disks.to.restore".screen and shows.the C: drive with the "You must enable system protection on this drive" message and an uncheckable checkbox. I found another thread on this site where the solution for that person required getting to the desktop which I can't do. Also if System Protection is off then it shouldn't have listed the restore points so the message makes little sense.

I did, however, move the drive to my other PC and enabled it. It showed enabled but when I put the drive back in the other PC it gives the same result. Any thoughts?

I just found the answer here (It's a fault with System Restore in Win 7 ... with thanks to Dayton Washington):

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...w7itproinstall

FYI: I now have my system back by doing Dayton's procedure then restoring my registry files from their backup.
