You can try that Windows disc based Repair option again. There is a place for legal downloads of Windows ISO files, see the link below. Burn the image to DVD using right click on iso file > Burn Image

maybe try process explorer? It's a more in-depth app that gives a ton more options than Windows resource monitor does.....

Thanks. My neighbor just suggested this one. What do you all think? (On the right side of that page it shows some other calendars, which I believe are free and will work with Win7. And ideas?) But I really want one that would show on my Win7 desktop screen as soon as I turn on the Win7.

I was thinking of the "Interactive Calendar" one. But I think you need to register after a certain period of time, which I am not too happy about.

Pc Freezes during Windows 7 Installation.

Just today I was formatting my brothers laptop. Upon doing a fresh install of windows 7, Mid way through installation the pc would freeze. At the same time of this freeze I Noticed that there were small graphical glitches and pixels appearing on the screen. Heres a link to a video i recorded (http://www.filedropper.com/vid201501161503251)

Before I decided to format and fresh install the PC would work fine and it would load windows ok with no problems/graphical glitches.

I tried to force power off the laptop and do the install again, but it would either black screen or do the same thing as listed above.. Im not to sure what may be causing this problem.

I can't start my laptop!

Win 7 and KODI-Buntu - No Win Boot Option

Thanks for the help guys and sorry for my tardy response. I've been away and unable to respond. I found that I had a couple other problems with this older PC, including non-working audio integrated on the motherboard. So rather than try to fix that and no Wifi support I decided to load KODI onto a Win 8.1 64 bit machine. This was a good move, as the system now works great. KODI-Buntu seemed pretty wonky when I did run it.

Please download AdwCleaner.
  • Double-click the adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
  • Click Scan.
  • When the scan is finished, click Clean.
  • When the cleaning process is over, click Report and a Notepad window will be opened.
  • Please post the contents here in your topic.

Finally able to get online with the laptop. One of the choices when I click on network in the taskbar is an xfinity choice which gets me online. Now, all I need to do is set up a home group like before, but will get to that later. Thanks Wayne for all your suggestions.Keith

I see there are errors caused by Combo Fix which may be a part of what's happening. Was combofix run as part of a malware removal with the help of an expert? If not we may have to have a combofix expert take a look at your logs and try to help you out. I'll wait for a reply from you before adding any more advise.

Cant install Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable

I can't install Visual C++ 2010. Or 2008. Or any Visual C++ as far as I can tell.
I am literally tearing my hair out. I can't play a ton of games that require this and now is a really bad time for me. I have tried almost everything the internet can come up with, and I thought I'd post it here, though it's very likely that like last time, I won't get a single reply.

In any case, I've tried:
Running the installer as administrator
Running it in safe mode
Running it in a clean boot
Uninstalling all VC++ files and reinstalling them (re installation didn't work)
Uninstalling all .NET frameworks and reinstalling (worked fine)
Installing it using a game installer (Specifically, Mechwarrior online, also failed to install VC++)
I've tried running dozens of variations of MS fixit, to no avail
I've posted on the MS forums and called tech support, which suggested that I would pay around 250$ (**** you Microsoft, thank you very much ) to get it fixed. Screw that.
I've used C-Cleaner to clean the registry (might have caused the issue in the first place)
I've de-fragmented regularly
I've updated all the software and drivers (including Windows)
I've created a separate user account that had admin privileges (didn't work there either, meaning it isn't a corrupt user account)
I don't have any restore points from before the issue (trust me, If I get it fixed, I sure as hell will from now on)

The only thing I haven't tried that I could think of is reinstalling the entire Windows 7 OS from scratch.
If I do that, it'll be over 250GB of files to reinstall and by god I am not doing that unless there is no hope whatsoever. I've only had the computer a couple months.
