I have had recent issues like you Blim. When I updated my NVidia driver version 337.88, mysonfig and prefetch would not open they would just hang. I would also get this error after trying to open all these commands "there is not enough free memory to run this program. exit one or more programs, and then try again ". After running many spyware, malware tools and AVG. I have come to the conclusion that it was the latest NVidia 337.88 driver. I reverted back to the stable GeForce 335.23 Driver - WHQL driver and now everything seems to work fine. After doing even more research I have found that not all systems shouldn't download 337.88. I hope this helps and please repost if it works or not. I am still researching this issue even though my system works.
