Multiple Crashes, Side by Side Configuration Errors, * Has stopped Working Errors

Hi, I'm kind of at my wits end at this point. I don't know if my problems are fixable, or if I just need to get a new computer.

It started with just a few programs on my computer that had side by side configuration errors. I was advised to uninstall and reinstall the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, but some would not reinstall correctly.

Several of the shortcuts on my computer are no longer working.

I have an HP Pavilion g7 running windows 7. I was using Firefox as a browser, but now I can't get adobe flash player to run on it at all. See posts here:

So I've had to use Chrome. Now, more and more programs won't open and are causing Windows to crash "Windows Explorer has stopped working." I ran a disk check and no errors were found. On the reboot I had and Event10 WMI error, and was able to find a fix through Microsoft.
